After an indefinite delay and months without an update, Ubisoft has announced that it is developing its highly anticipated… Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake to his studio in Montreal, Canada. Ubisoft has also confirmed that The edge that it is no longer targeting a fiscal year 2023 release, which runs through March 31, 2023 in Canada. The game has been in the works since 2020 at Ubisoft’s India-based studios in Mumbai and Pune.
“Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time Remake development will now be led by Ubisoft Montréal, the birthplace of the epic Sands of Time trilogy,” Ubisoft’s first announcement on Twitter is reading. “This decision is an important step and the team, building on the work of Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time they need to regroup the scope of the game to deliver the best experience for this remake of a all-time classic, when it’s done.”
Outside of assisting games like just dancing and Style† The sand of time remake marks the first major title the studios of Ubisoft Mumbai and Pune have led development on. Ubisoft did not explain the reason for switching studios.
“We are proud of the work accomplished by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their lessons as the new team will continue the work to deliver an amazing remake,” said Ubisoft spokesman Antoine Leduc-Labelle in a statement to The edge† “As such, we are no longer targeting an FY23 release. Players will be kept informed about the project as development progresses.”
The sand of time In particular, the remake is supposed to be a remastering of the game – not just a reskin – built on Ubisoft’s AnvilNext engine. It was originally slated for a January 2021 release on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. There’s still no word on optimization for the Series X/S or PS5.
Pandemic-related issues made Ubisoft push The sand of timeThe game’s release date is a few months back, until it later decided to postpone the game’s release indefinitely. The latest update from Ubisoft about the game came out last October, which only reassured fans that developers were still working on the game.
